Windows 7 forum: Why is LastPass saying that CNET has an insecure login form?

Can you tell us the exact wording of this warning message?

I assume that you never log out of CNET so I am unsure why LastPass should be concerned, but then I don't use it so i don't know the software.

What happens if you log out of CNET then close down the browser, re-open it and visit CNET again? Don't do that if you cannot remember your password for CNET and LastPass doesn't know it.

I don't remember really but it basically says CNET has an insecure login form and if i want to continue. Everywhere on the site that I go it has this message and it's annoying .-.

I do not believe that CNET supports secure login. Secure login uses web pages which begin with https instead of http, but I don't see that when I log in. I had to try that using Internet Explorer because I remain logged in to CNET in this Firefox browser I am using now; it remembers my login. IE doesn't, so that is a good test for me about this.

Just to be sure you know, http would be http://www.cnet.com whereas secure login with https will be https:// www.cnet.com (as shown in the address bar in the browser). I have disabled that secure link to cnet.com to make it non-clickable as it takes us nowhere.

We users would need to see a secure login for financial web sites, (banks, etc), or shopping sites, and so on, as it offers a layer of protection against identity theft in addition to strong passwords. But for non-financial sites like CNET, or for sites where no personal information is held, secure login is not required.

So, I am not at all sure why LastPass is giving you this warning.

A question or a few...

1] Are you logged in to CNET continuously, or do you log in every time you visit?

2] You say you 'don't remember exactly' the error message, but we need that. Are you saying it doesn't always show?

3] What does LastPass' Help say about this error message?

I think either LastPass keeps me signed in or it signs me in automatically when i visit.
No it shows all the time, it's just I don't remember all that it says. It showed up just now but I was so annoyed I immediately clicked the X lol...
I've looked but I haven't found anything in their manual.
