Someone just recently got a new Gateway all-in-one desktop computer running Windows 7. He has a slightly older HP deskjet printer connected to it. Each day, a second iteration of that printer appears and sets itself as the default printer. When he goes to print, nothing happens because it is sitting in the queue of that second printer.
Yesterday I reset the print spooler by turning it off an on. When done, only the original printer appeared and everything printed fine. Today he called me and said the second printer was back and he can't print.
Does anyone have an idea of what is going on and how we can stop it from reoccurring?
