Windows Explorer Crash

Hi,

Since a Windows update at 3 AM this morning Windows Explorer keeps freezing and i can't do anything beside a reboot using the power button of my computer. It seems to be random. It mostly happens when i open a file or a folder, right click on something or do anything involving explorer.

I tried to do a system restore but didn't fix it. I'm wrting this in safe mode and so far i have no problem.

My spec:

Windows 7 64bits
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2410M CPU @ 2.30Ghz
6GB DDR3
Nvidia GeForce GT 525M

Since SR rolls back the changes I wonder

I wonder if this is that old Explorer crash issue? Now a decade later after I showed this issue to a Redmondite (the reply was "don't do that!") if Explorer views some photo or video it can indeed crash.

MSFT has never issued a fix for this because... it may not be their code to fix. My examples often mean we have some CODEC installed. So to research this one, you may have to uninstall any added codecs or may sure there is no photo or video on the desktop.

Didn't work

I didn't have any extra codecs installed and moved the images i had on my desktop to the image folder but Explorer still crashes.

Create a new user and log in under that other user.

After these simple things we have to look at the Event Viewer for clues.

Event log viewer

Alright, i`m in the event log viewer right now, there`s a lot of error messages and a critical one. How do i post multiple logs without taking like 5 pages of this topic?

Never found the event viewer to be that long.

Let me share how I find the error. I clear ALL THE LOGS and then crash it.

Now the amount of data is much less and I'm off to google what I found.
