Windows 7 forum: Slow Boot up

Slow Boot up

My computer is running Windows 7 professional 64-bit. {Intel i7-2600 CPU 3.40 GHz with 16 GB of RAM} It used to fully boot up in about 30 seconds. Now I do not know what is going on with the computer. From the time we press the button to turn the computer on to when it says "Windows Is Starting" is about 2 minutes. I hope you understand what I am trying to explain here. Does anybody have any idea what might be going on with my computer.

Could be a lot of things, but my guess would be the bulk of it has to do with the necessary protections for Windows. You quite probably have one of the more hefty AV programs like Norton or McAfee which toss in everything short of the kitchen sink. You might have also picked up some malware along the way that isn't helping, and any other programs you might have installed that launch at boot won't help your cause either.

Those are just a couple of areas to get you started.
