Do you need Silverlight in Chrome?

I don't have that add-on in Chrome.

Do you need it? if not I would just disable it.

thanks Mark - I think you got it in one.
I probably don't need what Silverlight does. I uninstalled it and replied to an email - without a "crash" message.
Hopefully, that's that. thanks again Mark.

SIlverlight is Microsoft's answer to Flash and was released two or three years ago. But to date, as far as I can see, there has not been that much take up on it, except perhaps in Microsoft sites.

So removing/disabling it shouldn't cause many problems.

Flash Crash?

I am having similar problems...
but even uninstalling Silverlight did not take care of the problem

I think it was because I installed Adobe Flash Player 11.1
I can not use a single one of the 4 different browsers
(IE 9, Firefox Chrome, Safari)...

I think your problem might be like mine...the Adobe Flash Player might be the problem ...
...but you can try to inactivate the Active X filter under "Safety" in the settings tool of your IE 8 or 9 browser.
That was a suggestion made to me
