Installing Windows 7 64-bit. Used to have Vista 32-Bit

This is the same computer. Going from Vista 32-bit to Windows 7 64-bit Full version.


Will programs like MS Office ALL need to be purchased again?
Does MS Office consider this a different computer, or can the same Activation Key be used?

It's a Clean Install

You'll need to wipe the drive, then install everything from scratch.. If the MS Office was part of the OEM package on a brand name computer, then you probably will need to purchase a retail installation CD. If you already have the retail CD, you should be able to install it and activate it, although in some cases, a phone call to Microsoft may be required to explain the situation.

Likewise with all the other third party software.. In addition, because you're installing Win7 from scratch, be sure to download all the appropriate hardware drivers for your computer model BEFORE doing the new install.. Looking in Device Manager of the current installation will tell you which drivers are necessary and should also tell you the manufacturer/provider for those drivers.. Be sure to get Win7 X64 supported drivers before performing the new installation. Depending on the specific computer, you may have difficulty finding the correct X64 drivers for your hardware.

Thank You. Office was not bought with the computer. But it was bought when the Trial Expired. The Trial was was installed by the OEM. Do I still need to repurchase? I can find a download of Office 2007 Trial Online.

If You Don't Have An Office Installer CD, You'll Need To...

...purchase the installer disc. You basically purchased the product key for the OEM version of the software which is tied to the machine itself.. Still, it might be worth contacting Microsoft to see if they will allow you to use the key again on the same machine with a different operating system. Unfortunately, since you don't have an installation disc, I doubt your be successful.
