Windows 7 forum: Windows 7 vs. Windows XP

There are tabbed web browsers, but I have never heard of a desktop screen with tabs. You need to be more specific with your question. Personally, it is very difficult for some to give XP up. I am such an individual. Therefore, I dual-boot the two. There are many step by step tutorials on how to achieve this. Because XP has been around so long, one has far more customization options available to them. Heck, one site alone offers 11 different transformation packs. In so far as compatibility is concerned, if you have the specs and a well maintained computer, 7 will run fine. My computer is 6 yrs. young, and operates as if it were designed for the OS. Incidentally, there are many tutorials and third party programs that can address the 7 start menu. CS Menu and CWSM (Classic Windows Start Menu) are both free. With Startkiller and Presstart, it is possible to use both a classic start menu and the Windows 7 start menu.

Like I said, 7 is running on this unit as if it were made for it. All I did was remove XP Pro, and use the entire disk for install. Immediately following install, I installed every possible update and used DriverMax and Slimdrivers to update all the drivers. It's been going on six months now, and I have not had one issue. Machine states that it is Vista capable, and I live on the edge anyway. Turned out to be a winning gamble. Microsoft makes it very clear what the minimum requirements are for 7; my computer surpasses this criteria; therefore I did not hesitate in doing the "custom install." Moreover, am currently triple booting. Ubuntu, 7, and XP.

If one is aware of the capabilities of one's computer and follows the simple instructions from the company who manufactures these OSes, luck is not a factor. Meet the requirements, follow the instructions, and pay attention to details.
