cd dvd drive error code 10

both of my dvd burners create an error code 10 can not be started. how do I correct this

This is usually the same fix as CODE 39

http://club.myce.com/f86/optiarc-dvd-rw-ad-7530-error-code-10-a-233625/ writes about Vista but it is the same fix I've used for 7. I've also had to boot SAFE MODE, head to the device manager to remove all CD/DVD drives there if the filters don't do the trick.

On the next regular boot, Windows finds the drives and usually it's fixed.
