Win 7 -Dlink Di-524- Kodak ESP3

I have a new Dell Studio 15 w/ 64 bit Windows 7. I also have a DI-524 D-Link router and a Kodak ESP3 printer. The printer is connected to my Windows XP Dell Vostro via USB. The new PC joined my wireless network without a problem, it can not, however, connect with my printer while on the wireless network. It works fine with the printer connected via USB. I suspect the router is not capable of working with Win 7, although it has been working great with a wireless WinXP PC. Can anyone help me with a fix, work-around or recommendation?

It's something else like firewalls or other. Hope you don't buy a new router.

connect fails with error 0x0000000d

Every time I attempt to add the printer, the W7 machine finds the printer while searching and on the attempt to connect, I get the failed to connect and the error code 0x0000000d. I have the Windows firewall disabled, but am using the McAfee firewall. This arrangement worked fine with the Win XP laptop I replaced.
I've connected the printer to the W7 laptop by USB and it works fine, so I know it is not the new PC, W7 or the printer that is causing the problem. I've joined the LAN by hardwire and it makes no difference, so I don't think it is network related. All of the other local area network things work fine.
The obvious point is the router, but your experience says no. I'm stumpped.

You didn't reveal what is set for Accounts.

The find the printer shows that step succeeded but we know Mcafee and other firewalls have no true off setting. But let's set that aside for a moment.

How did you handle the accounts issue?

In the wonderful world of Windows networking an account is that name you logged in as. Now across machines this gets even more interesting. Let's start with that fun Windows network term "Everyone".

"Everyone" is Everyone WITH AN ACCOUNT on the machine serving up the shared folder or printer. More at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/243330

"A group that includes all users, even anonymous users and guests. Membership is controlled by the operating system.

Note By default, the Everyone group no longer includes anonymous users on a computer that is running Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2)."

Then means that if you are CLYDE on the Windows 7 machine you can walk to the XP machine and log out then on the log in you use CLYDE to login with no errors.

Many forget that.

It's always nice to hear when folk solve their issues (with a little help.)

Tipping my hand here, I owned the di 524 for a very long time and never ran into any real issue. I did gift it away when there was no WPA security and I was not going to limp along waiting so I know the unit is a good little work horse and has rarely been the cause of any trouble (if setup per the Cnet Networking Forum sticky.)

Parting advice. Add some note to your cheat sheets about what it took to fix it.

And repayment is simple. Help others out when you can.
