wordperfect 11 won't respond to "save as"

I installed wordperfect 11 on my new Dell with Windows 7 and have been working on wordperfect 11 docs. I tried to Save As a doc and it simply won't respond. I tried other wordperfect docs, same result

Program Compatibility troubleshooter

The version of WordPerfect you are running isn't compatible with Windows 7. Try running the program compatibility troubleshooter.

Don't want new bloated programs

WordPerfect Office 11 has all I need and more. The same is true of Office 2000. The last thing I want is the latest version of WP or MS Office and to lose a week learning how to use features I neither need nor want. This is supposed to be a forum for help with WP 11, not a marketing tool.

I converted in the past Word Perfect to MS Office documents and backwards.
