Internet Issues

Ok so the story is my Dad gave me this computer and I tried to reinstall XP initially because there was a virus. Everything worked fine there just was a virus. I unknowingly did the reformat and install without backing up any drivers. Anyways I got it working enough for what I needed it for but anytime I tried to use the internet or run Windows updates the computer would completely freeze up.

So now I figured I'd try Windows 7 and it would solve this problem, Nope. Same problem so can I get some directions as to trying to solve this. I'm not sure of all the hardware in the computer since he built it and is not a "off the shelf" computer. So if we can start there I guess that would help.

Without the make, model of the parts in question no one can tell you where to find drivers. Yes you can find that "Driver Finder" software but that's your choice and money.

Here I continue to find drivers the old fashioned way by looking at the documentation on the parts, looking at the boards and google.
