Windows 7 installer has it's own partition tool and format feature. If you want to experience some truly odd installs, partition and format with other than the Windows 7 DVD and learn why a seasoned tech just leaves unpartitioned space for the install. You may encounter a few that do this and it works, but for those that don't want surprises, they just use the stock tools.
