Samsung UN46ES6100 wifi input

When viewing Netflix, I notice that the picture is much better if I use the Netflix feature of my BluRay player than if I use the Netflix feature of the TV itself. Just wondering if I can improve the picture using the TV apps. Could it have something to do with the fact that the Bluray player is plugged into an HD input on the TV? While I don't really know what type of input the wifi is? Or maybe the Bluray player is somehow stepping up the resolution? Does the TV have this ability? Can the TV picture settings be optimized for the wifi input? I notice that some options in the settings are not available when viewing from wifi. When viewing wifi, if I hit "info" on the remote, I get no information. When using the Bluray for Netflix, if I hit "info" on the remote, is says 1920x1080p.
Any help would be appreciated. I would like to use the TV apps for online services, because, for instance, the TV supports Amazon Prime but my Bluray does not.
