It depends on your own tolerance/perfectionism. If you don't mind the thought of cycling through a bunch of samples to eventually arrive at the one with the best uniformity, go ahead and exchange it. If you can live with it, shrug off this issue; no TV is perfect.

Everything you say is right though: your issue sounds relatively minor, and chances are when you pick up another sample of the same model (or any LCD TV, for that matter) you'll notice some uniformity issue. I've reviewed hundreds of LCD and LED TVs over the years, most of them samples hand-picked by the manufacturer, and nearly every one had imperfect screen uniformity. It's inherent in the technology.

Hello Katz, I just recently purchased this tv and am using your settings. Do you also recomend these settings for watching a sports game? I was told the auctual picture mode "football, baseball, ect.." that vizio offers doesnt have a big effect on the picture quality. Thank you in advance..

The lack of control the content providers are giving is disheartening. It creates no end of problems for HDTV makers as you see this.

The fact the same channel works on the commercials is telling us something is amiss with the HD audio. Commercials are often stereo and 5.1 is something else.

There's another item to consider such as hookup. Your better HD tech will never run audio out of the TV to the HT system except for OTA and maybe game consoles. Be sure you hook up Source->HT-HDTV.

If you are using the TV audio outputs, I find many makes to be all over the map. For now, I think the way to go is source-> HT -> HDTV. Or else?

If your LG is off on just HDMI from a cable box to the TV, it's time to consider letting LG have one chance to correct it then send it back.

it is your dish network that is causing the sync problem. it happens with my TV also all you have to do is skip back then forward and it will resync the audio to image. I hope that helps.

Vizio HDTV- Lips out of sync
Anyone with a new Vizio E601i-A3 60" or 70" HDTV that is having audio "Lips out of sync problems" with a cable or satellite box.
On Comcast cable boxes (or others), here's what you need to do: FIND MENU for AUDIO or HDMI setup on CABLE BOX or Satellite Box.
FOR COMCAST
1. Turn on TV and have Cable box Turned OFF.
2. Press MENU on COMCAST REMOTE.
3. Go to AUDIO Setting OR HDMI Setting. (On cable or Sat. BOX)
4. Change setting from Auto to L-PCM. (Turn off cable box to exit)
This should resolve any "out of sync" lips to picture after commercials on HD channels.
*This is a handshaking issue from the cable box to the Vizio E601i-A3

When you hit MENU on the cable box remote while the box is off, it should turn the box on directly to the settings.

I was planning to get this tv. My mom just got it today. Where will it be on sale and I wonder how many there will be? Do stores honor price guarantees if you buy it 5 days before black friday??

I just sent my mom the calibration so I'm waiting to hear if she tries to do it herself.

So i just bought my E601i-A3 last night on black friday. Got a ridiculous deal and have a few questions.

Im actually using the preset Game settings as they look pretty nice in my family room. When im in the settings and press the Exit button, at the top right of the screen it says 720p HD.

How do you get it to 1080p? I am running HDMI from Verizon Fios box to HDMI port 1 on the Vizio TV. Do you have to select 1080p or what?

Any help would be appreciated.

I just got this TV on the Wal-Mart Black Friday special. I am impressed with the thin design. I love that all inputs output on the optical out. The 52" Samsung it replaced didn't and that made connecting to the yamaha soundbar a problem since I would run out of inputs on the soundbar. However there are some negatives. In no particular order (actually minor ones first).

I love YouTube playback. I love having the keyboard on the remote.

1) DLNA use is problematic. It takes forever to read my movie directory and completely fails on music. It appears my large iTunes library (I have over 1000 CD's that I ripped). Vizio tried but couldn't help. Movie catalog read is so slow that at first I thought it was locked up. It took many minutes before the spinning circle showed up and the remote started working again.

2) Your settings result in a dim picture, especially during the day. My old CCFL Samsung 52" was MUCH brighter with richer colors.

3) I have a somewhat functional brightness but with unrealistic colors by setting:

Custom
Backlight 95
Brightness 53
Contrast 50 Color 50
Tint 2
Sharpness 5
R gan 128
G Gain 122
B Gain
Offset all 128 (what does this do?)
Backlight control and light sensor off

Don't expect good color from this. It is a start in that it makes the picture bright enough to watch. Now I will try to work on the color. The Samsung was much better out of the box.

Sound sync is driving me nuts. At times it seems to slowly get worse with turning the set off and then on helping. I have eliminated all delay on the Yamaha sound bar but the audio still seems slightly delayed. Is there a good DVD for checking this? I can't make the sound any earlier which is what it seems I need to do.

I almost took this set back and even called Vizio asking if something was wrong. Surprisingly they couldn't even give me a number for the light output to compare to the Samsung.

When the screen is all black and the brightness turned way up you can see that backlight uniformity is mediocre at best but acceptable to me given the price.

Oh yeah, skin tones currently appear slightly posterized compared to the Sony.

I apologize, i forgot to add above:

I have all the DLNA set up on windows media player, everything is set to allow all devices to share and control files on the computer.

Now when the "media app/widget" is opened on the television, it just says Media, and nothing else. That is my question, where does one go from here to watch the videos?
