un46c6300 doesn't show 1080 upon powering up only 720

When I turn on the TV it only shows at 720 for HD channels. Sat box is set for 1080, hdmi cable is plugged in. I scroll through most of the HD channels to confirm and they show 720. After 5 mins or so, as I continue doing this, I press info again on my samsung remote and the channels show 1080! What's up with that? Anyone have an idea? Thanks

The 1080 or 720 is showing what the source is providing. After seeing this a few times, the owners are upset with the maker/provider of the HD box/thing/service.
