HDTV picture settings forum: Samsung LN46D630 picture settings

Would
it be possible for you to list the model number of the panel that was
used on the LN 46D630 that you tested? My concern is that my TV has
some uniformity issues that are very in line with your review of the
LN 46C630 and the color calibration is more in line with what was
listed for that TV. The panel on my TV is labeled as SQ01. I noticed
that this was the panel you listed for the LN 46C630 settings.


My
TV is a "D" model, it has the red stripe on the bezel and
everything. It's interesting to me though that it would have the same
panel as the "C" model from two years ago.

What we are looking for is the panel version info for your reviewed sample. This is listed on the main sticker on the outside of the box, as well as on a sticker on the right-hand side of the TV (along with the s/n). (i.e. AA01, SQ01, SN02, etc)

Can you provide that info?

This will help to tie your settings to a specific panel, as there are differences between them (that may be enough that settings for one may not be ideal for a different panel).

For those interested, SQxx designates a Samsung panel, SNxx a Chi Mei
Optoelectronics (CMO) panel, and AAxx an AU Optronics panel. I've seen stated on
other forums that the Samsung panel is most desirable with better color accuracy, contrast ratio, viewing angle, and less ghosting/lag (though downside
is the flashlighting and possible clouding). As an interesting side
note, my 3.5 year old Insignia 720P LCD has a CMO panel (we should all know that all TV "manufacturers" pull from the same pool of LCD panel makers).

As PickyGuy55 mentioned, I too have a SQ01 panel in my 46D630 and have flashlighting in the bottom two corners (was much worse before I exchanged for another SQ01). I also had a SN02 panel to compare to side-by-side and it had no bright corners/flashlighting, however it had other color/viewing angle/black level differences that I didn't like, so I kept the SQ01.
