Below you'll find the settings we found best for viewing the Samsung PN59D8000 in a dim room via the HDMI input at 1080p/24 resolution. Your settings may vary depending on source, room conditions, and personal preference. Check out the Picture settings and calibration FAQ for more information.

Note that the main calibration was performed at about 150 hours into the lifespan of the TV. The TV's picture quality characteristics change over time, so at the 940 hour mark, to provide a comparison in the PND7000 review (http://cnet.co/pUjDLr), we re-calibrated the PND8000. Unfortunately those picture settings resulted in higher (worse) black levels than the TV is capable of, so after 1443 hours we again re-calibrated the TV. See the bottom of this post for the picture settings we used at 1443 hours as well as the resulting calibration report, and check out our full plasma TV aging report (http://cnet.co/qOeRT0) for more information.
