Can't attach images in Windows Live Mail

When trying to email an image from Picasa using Windows Live Mail, it takes me to the 'sign in' page. It didn't do that previously, and I really don't want to do it now. Is there a way to continue using Live Mail with Picasa without the Live Mail sign in?
Or are my choices to either sign in or use another Email program?

OS is Windows 7. Live Mail Version 2011 (Build 15.4.3555.0308)

I think that's a recent change.

If you hit the Windows Live forums that Microsoft runs, that's a change they made to force folk to get on board.

Look, really look at how push Microsoft is getting with Windows 8, SkyDrive and more.

For me the choice was simply to use something else.
