Live Mail loses saved messages

After using it successfully for several years, Windows Live Mail now have totally messed up all of the messages that I have stored in its Storage Folders section. I have deleted and replaced some of those folders and it still does not retain the new message I have stored there. Often, it gives the message "Message Not Found". Sometimes it displays a list of titles for stored messages but when you click on those titles, they all display the same message, one that has not even been stored in that folder.

Can anyone give me some clues as to how I can get this fixed?

But only Microsoft can fix such issues. Be sure to use Microsoft's support forums but as this company seems to be content with how things are today, I can only wish you good luck.

Any hope of moving to another email app?

Most common I see folk use? Thunderbird.

Windows Mail (came with Vista) and Windows Live Mail (downloadable) have never equalled the success of Outlook Express (that came with XP).
So it's time to leave Microsoft if issues like yours occur.
