Here's an example of the expected input:

Protocol: SMTP
Server: outgoing.mymailserver.com

However, what happened is you entered protocol information for all those fields, so it is currently set to think your account (typically your username) is "POP3" and the server (think of it like a website) is "SMTP," neither of which is valid.

For a situation such as this you'll need to contact the group providing your e-mail service (internet service provider, employer, etc.) and ask them for the required information. Specifically, you will need:

For sending mail:
1.) Outgoing server
2.) Your account username
3.) Outgoing port number
4.) If SSL an connection is required (yes/no)

For receiving mail:
1.) Incoming server (usually different from outgoing)
2.) Your account username (same as outgoing)
3.) Incoming port number (usually different from outgoing)
4.) Protocol used (IMAP or POP3)
5.) If SSL an connection is required (yes/no)

(I'd suggest you NOT post the server addresses or your username here for security and privacy reasons.)

If they support both POP3 and IMAP you can choose which to use your your incoming mail. For your needs it shouldn't matter which you choose.

With that information you'll be able to set up your e-mail client (you did not mention which one...most likely either Outlook Express or Windows Live Mail), something we can assist with if they do not. However, you'll need that information in your possession before taking the next step.
