Problem with Active Sync

I am using a Motorola MC5590 with (Windows Mobile 6 as the OS) connecting to my PC (XP Pro SP3) via active sync 4.5
The problem is on occasion when I dock the MC5590 into it's docking station active sync doesn't try to connect.
Through investigation I have found that the issue lies on the MC5590 not the workstation.
The only way to resolve the issue is to reboot the MC5590. This suggest to me that the active sync app sitting on the WM6 side is locking up or crashing some how.
Has anyone else come across this before or have any suggestion on how to solve the issue.
