VPN from Mobile 5 to Webservice : no access???

HI

I have a webservice at IP xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx behind a VPN router at yyy.yyy.yyy.yyy.

I have credentials to login the to the vpn router using PPTP and, via a PC, this give me access to the webservice through a browser.

If I connect (by GPRS) to the VPN using the same credentials from a Windows Mobile 5 device then I get connection to the VPN ( IE I can ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx and I have an IP address on the same subnet) but if I try and access the webservice then I get the 'Network cannnot be reached' message come back at me.

If I portforward yyy.yyy.yyy.yyy:NN to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:80 then I can access the webservice (via yyy.yyy.yyy.yyy:NN) without initiating a VPN connection (confirming the PDA can access the webservice OK) so my feeling is that somewhere in the VPN config on the device there is something I havent done - but i'll be damned If I can see it.

Has anyone any ideas?

I'm working with something in this space and to solve this we used an app in the middle to handle the communication from the cellular device to the VPN. If that does not make sense then you may have more to learn.

Good hunting and have fun developing such things.
