Can boot WM 6.1 Phone

I have a Samsung Omnia (Verizon) with Windows Mobile 6.1 on it. I have my home e-mail address set up on the phone. I received an e-mail with a 10MB video attachment that the phone tried to open. During the process of trying to open it the phone locked up. It won't even boot now...it shows the starting windows screen with the bar at the bottom and just locks up.

What I think happened was it used every bit of memory trying to download that e-mail attachement. I have tried a soft reset and that doesn't work and the only way to do a hard reset is in Windows which I can not get to run. I have tried connecting the USB cable to the computer but it doesn't boot far enough to be recognized.

Is there any other tricks or suggestions or is the phone pretty much bricked at this point? Thanks!

Did you pull the battery and let it do a complete reboot? If that fails, it's back to the shop.

Yeah, tried that and it didn't work. I have the insurance with Verizon so they are sending me a replacement phone. I just have no way of getting back into the phone for contacts.

I guess that's a flaw of WM 6. You would think it would protect some of it's memory so it would still be able to boot and you could do a hard reset if needed.

I'm just a App author with about 5 WM phones to test with and the issue does not sound like an OS one but a failed phone. Here I pull the battery and it's like a cold boot so no issue of low ram, etc.

As to losing contacts, etc. Never happens as I sync the phone with the PC.

Point the finger at Verizon

If it wasn't a simple hardware failure like Bob has suggested, I'd point the finger at the Verizon software/configuration loaded on the phone. What you've suggested as a shortcoming has nothing to do w/ WM per se. These phones can still be booted with a sliver of free space IME.
