Dell XPS410/DIMENSION 9200 DXP061 - 32-bit Vista to 64-bit 7

Hey everyone. I am really agonizing over this, and I want to try to evaluate if it's worth all the trouble.

Has anyone upgraded their XPS410/DIMENSION 9200 DXP061 from Win Vista 32-bit to Win 7 64-bit? Everyone at Windows tells me I wont have any problems, but i've contradicting stories.

Here are my specs:
-Dell Dimension DXP061 (Purchased under the name "Dell XPS 410")
-Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz 2.39 GHz (Number of processer cores: 4)
-4 GB Ram (PC2-5300 4X1GB Sticks with 4 total slots)
-288 GB Internal Hard Drive
-NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS (Stock GFX Card died, and I replaced it with this less than a year ago)
Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit (64-bit capable/compatible)

You can click the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor below to see if your systems will work with Windows 7. Dell does not have any Windows 7 drivers for these systems.

It won't work, CPU's work with either x86 or x64 operating systems, not both. I literally just tried this because my boss refuses to upgrade to a newer computer, but wants windows 7. It does in fact run home premium 32 bit beautifully, but only with a basic theme. it can't handle the aero. Ours however is only running on 1 gig of RAM, with the stock graphics card, so you should be cool with a 32 bit copy of either 7 or 8. Best of luck to you happy

re-read the end of your post, and if you're running a 64 bit processor than it will work fine, but it doesn't matter which you run since your MB caps at 4gigs, and 32 bit can handle that.

Not entirely an issue

I have this Dell XPS 410 and I can go into Bios and switch it to 64 -Bit. Appearantly the 6600 processor they shipped with were capable of both. I have been considering it but am trying to find out the max memory.
