Dell Demension 3000 won't boot

My Dell Deminsion 3000 just went blank and now won't boot up. I won't boot from the sysetem disk or and recover disk fro that matter. All the test have it running normally, but no boot up!

Any repair advice is not possible. HOWEVER THERE IS A GENERIC RESET to try.

Remove the AC POWER, press and hold the power button for 60 seconds, release, apply AC and try again.

Had never heard that one, but why not! No luck. Computer will come on, run through basic XP startup, then black screen with arrow curser in the middle and nothing else. Won't even read boot disk or installiation disk!

At this point you try the usual F8 key on startup, safe mode and hope.

As to the not booting a boot disk, that's either the bios setting or old CD drive/bad CD issue.
