Dell Studio XPS 8100

Question re HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GH50N
16X DVD +-RW
It seems to me the +/- indicates the drive is compatible with DVD+RW and DVD-RW disks. However, I am told this is not necessarily so. If someone would give me a definitive answer, I would sure appreciate.

http://www.google.com/search?q=GH50N finds it does support that media HOWEVER as drives age you find them get picky.
