CANNOT RUN MISCONFIG

I am using windows XP and, I have a Dell Dimension 8400 and I think someone has done something to it because after I put it in the shop, I cannot run a misconfig; My system does not recognize me as the system administer. Please help me.

Changing your account to an administrator is well discussed. But malware often stops use of msconfig and the task manager. Grif writes more at http://forums.cnet.com/5208-6142_102-0.html?messageID=3105025

In closing, you may want to choose a forum about your issue. Msconfig would not be a Dell problem.

for the shop that you put your computer into if this problem has been since they worked on it they may have done something to the settings.

navigate to C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache and rename the file msconfig.exe to anything.exe and run the file it should open if the issue stems from a virus.

I second "cmonkedo" comment, had this a few months back and it was a virus , do as he says and it will fix the issue, but need to scan for virus and fix. Try this scanner http://onecare.live.com/site/en-au/default.htm?mkt=en-au should be able to find and fix.

BACK IT UP BEFORE YOU RENAME IT!

Renaming any file in the Windows folder can have disastrous results if you're not careful. Make a copy of msconfig.exe in the same Windows directory and rename the copy as msconfig_bak BEFORE you rename the real msconfig.exe. This way if there's a problem you can rename msconfig_bak back to msconfig.exe - no harm done.
