Also, if the movies don't show, they are not compatible. Some folk think if the movie plays on a PC it will on a TV but the supported encoding list is very short and then we have issues with large drives, USB 3.0 things and encoding.

Let's hope you don't write AVI or MKV. That's not an encoding!

Sorry, the model number is UN26EH4000F so I guess its the EH4000 series. I put 4 different files (mkv mp4 mpeg avi) on a 2GB Sandisk cruze micro flash drive, that I have used on a Samsung TV before, just a different model. I am not sure what you mean about the USB 3.0 things.

Look up MEDIA INFO if you want to see how the video/audio is encoded. The file name or type is not indicative of the encoding. Since you don't have an USB 3.0 drive we can ignore that now.

Where do I find this media info? I looked under properties of the file on the computer and it had nothing like that.

When I typed that on google.com found a software title that can peek inside the files and see who they are encoded. I can't write about encoding in depth here. Why? I will write about encoding, encapsulation (a file is not the encoding) and help you start your research but all this is widely discussed. You must do some research since you can imagine this area is well covered.

Thanks. I found the file you were talking about. I also found a less descriptive version when the file is opened on a PC with VLC under tools> media information> codec. Below is posted the info of a mp4 file that I have.

I see AVC in the information but on page 2 it wrote AVCHD is not supported.

VLC Player is very adept and able to handle almost anything so what's next? Try other encodings.

Most folk don't want to do that work so they hook up the PC and use VLC Player.
