Samsung TV screen flickers

I have a Samsung Plasma 55" 2 months new and not all the time but sometimes the picture is bright and sound loud then the TV goes black for a second and the picture comes back dull and sound quieter. It will flick between these two until you turn the TV off after awhile. Can anyone please help? Is this an automatic setting I need to turn off as it's going mad?

Thanks for quick response... looks like I was upping the size of my TV as it's only 51" :P model nubmer is below

PS51E550D1MXRD

Hope this helps, as it only happens every now and then I was wondering if it was the lighting of the room and some automatic feature turned on.
