Unable to boot from USB or SSD. Series 5 Laptop

Hello,
I recently bought a new Samsung laptop; NP535U4CA02. The specs are very good, the laptop feels great and I would be very pleased with this machine if only I could get my ssd to work with it.
The problem is: When i plug in the ssd and start bios, I can see the disk in the "System Information" tab, but it is not included in the boot section. Hence I am unable to boot from it. As an added bonus, the ssd has some strange noises going on when it is plugged in to THIS computer (no problem on any other).
So I decided to try and reinstall windows 8 with my own version via USB and there was no way to boot from that either.
My question is, is this a "feature" or a bug or am I just missing something?
thank you,
Marcel
