External hard drive not recognized on Samsung 46in LED TV

Hi,
I have had my Samsung 46in LED TV for about 5 weeks and use my Verbatim 500gb external hard drive regularly through its USB port. However, today I was using it and suddenly the TV doesnt recognize the device. The hard drive is powered by the USB port and its light indicating power is on is now blinking (normally solid) and there is a "tick, tick" sound. I have tested the USB on a laptop and it is working fine. I tried a 18gb drive, and this worked with the TV, but not the 500gb.

What can I do to use this larger storage drive again?

Get one of those Y USB POWER CABLES as USB powered drives are hit and miss.

USB Power Cable

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm having trouble finding one of these cables online. The cable for the hard drive is a mini USB/USB. Is it possible to find a cable that is connected to an outlet, then Y's off to a USB for the TV and a mini USB for the hard drive? DId you have a specific product that you were thinking of?

There are many such at amazon.com. I have this Verbatim USB drive and it used a miniUSB so this cable would be one I would try.

That's not to say this is the issue but USB powered drives can be too flaky to count on working so I use this to give my setup the edge.
