I have a Samsung 32" LCD tv model: LE32R87BDX/XEU that was purchased around 2006/07. It began playing up some time ago, it would take a good while to come on. This gradually became worse, it would make a loud buzzing noise and the picture would be extremely distorted however, if left on the buzzing would stop and the picture would eventually return to normal. This also gradually got worse, the tv took longer and longer before it would start working properly until eventually it just wouldn't turn on at all. The screen remains black and the light on the power button flashes on and off. After reading through forums I found that this model has issues with bad capacitors, I tested all the electrolytic caps on the power board with a multimeter and two appeared to be completely dead. I replaced all 5 caps in that group with ones of a higher voltage value but kept the uf and temperature values the same. The tv still wont power on and the light on the power switch is still blinking. I also checked the internal fuse which is fine. I have read that it may be the power inverter, could anyone tell me if this is correct and if so would I have to replace the whole board or would I be able to just replace the electrolytic caps on there too? Any help would be appreciated

That's one of the known symptoms that you know to remove from service to get it fixed. If left in service other boards can fail but only a tech can look to see what needs replacement. The cause we know of was only covered on some models but if you left it in service the maker only changed the parts that were covered but outside of that, it would be up to the owner to decide if repair was cost effective.
I read you found the bad caps, but since it remained in service with the bad caps, other boards are now likely dead.

Unfortunately I didn't have the time to look into it when the problems started and was unaware of the bad caps until now. Tv has been sitting unused for several months, now that I have a bit of time on my hands I thought I'd fix it (or at least try!). So even if I replace the power inverter board there may be other problems & the tv may still not work?
You won't know till the swap is done.

Head to www.samsungparts.com or shopjimmy.com to see if there is a service manual. You were not expected to know about the issue, cause or fall out but when your car is hard to start, then gets worse you usually take it in or ask the dealer. Before the repairs get expensive. Same story with this issue.

I'll see if I can get the service manual, probably chance the swap too, have sourced several boards (reconditioned) that are relatively cheap. Thanks for your help Bob. I have another Samsung tv, will certainly act at first sign of any problems with that one but fingers crossed, eh!!

I haven't found confirmation on this yet but it appears that 32 inch and smaller models are not getting service manuals since the cost to repair or replace (CTRR) can exceed what the unit can be replaced for. As a TV tech you would have to use a few time honored tech tricks to find the board to replace. I'll list them for discussion's sake.
1. Replace the part you know is bad.
That's the card with the scorched parts on it.
2. Replace the cheapest parts first.
It's counter-intuitive but if you have 5 parts and the first 4 parts are under 100 bucks and the last part is 500 then you know the replacement display cost is under 500 you replace the 4 parts and if that does not fix it, you call it. (CTRR too high)

Hoping to get my hands on another LE32R87BD with a broken screen, hopefully all other parts will be fine & I will get one working out of the two, seems like the cheapest and easiest option. Time will tell!
