Having trouble with my Blu Ray HDD BD-D8500A

Hello all,

I purchased this Blu Ray player about a year ago and have ony used it twice because I have not been living at the house where it has been.

I've tried playing DVDs on it and nope, it's chucked a hissy fit. It powers up ok, put the disc in and select the AV2 source on my Samsung series 7 smart tv and get the dreaded "No Signal: check connection, power source etc...". I have been using my old LG dvd player with the same connections and plays fine. I connect both players with the old school red/white and yellow cables from the TV to the players. I spent 45 minutes the other day just going though every menu on the TV and pushing evey button possible...I have no idea what is wrong with it.

I tried calling samsung techs but they said to take it to a service centre and get it looked at....not happy about it looking like it's broken after 2 uses :/ Surely I have just not pushed the right sequence of magical buttons to get this bizarre machine working? Surely?!

I also seem to have some issue with the remote, I put a disc in and then cant even eject it because the 'BD' button on the top left of the remote just flashes orange and then the remote performs no function. I have to turn the machine off, back on again and then I can eject once. Then the 'BD' just flashes again and again the remote performs no functions. I can put it on 'TV' mode ok, but none of the other DVD buttons work, eg play.

I'm pretty bad with technology but I didn't think I was this bad... Am I missing something with the remote, does it have a lock function that I have jammed on?
