Samsung LN-T4061F 40" LCD TV

We purchased this TV barely 5 years ago and at the time it was their top of the line TV. Well, 5 years later it is going to the garbage. The picture had become dark on one side of the screen as well as the two halves of the screen not on the same level. Also, the screen would become a picture of lines. When I called Samsung their only suggestion was to take it into a repair shop. Yes, they could send someone but the price was double that of taking it in ourselves. Obviously we took it in ourself! Well the verdict is in and it is not good! The repair would be more than buying a new TV. I called Samsung again and they took my complaint but basically said "Sorry for your luck!" Needless to say our new TV will NOT be a Samsung. A top-of-the-line product should definately last more than 5 years!! Obviously, the big name of Samsung does not mean high, long lasting quality.

Sadly in the rush to low prices, quality or rather 10 to 20 year designs are a thing of the past. You rarely see more than a 1 year warranty and think carefully what they are telling you. The stuff I see inside is about a 5 year design. Any more than that and we may think we're lucky.

As to cost of repairs. As the prices of service went up and the product prices came down, folk are a little put off at the result.
