Using the BD-C5500 Blue Ray Player as a web browser

Is there any way the BD-C5500 Blue Ray Player can be used as a web browser? If not, what kinds of upgrades would do the job? I currently can only view files on my PC or stream video via an Ethernet Cable running from my AT&T Router to the Blue Ray Player.

Look at those recent Android on a stick with the HDMI port to see what might be the cheapest way to add a web browser.

Which Device is Best

I started looking at Android on a stick and the choices are numerous. The models are spewing out of China faster than anyone can evaluate them. I'm still looking for a good review and application suggestion description to decide which of these will work, or not work.

I'm not sure if these devices go inline with my Blue Ray Player, or not. I would have to get an HDMI extender to add my Ethernet cable separately from the Blue Ray Player. These devices have HDMI in and USB out. My TV
has USB ports, but I'm not sure if they would do the job.

Many questions and uncertainties here.

I can't cover all those here but if they are confusing then shop for a replacement BD player with a browser.

Be sure to test drive the browser in the store because some folk expect a PC experience. The reality is that the browser is only that and will not get you hulu.com or video streaming sites.

Unfortunately, if you don't have an app that came with it, there's no way you can add it afterwards. I'm sorry for the disappointment.

I also asked if there were other model Samsung Blue Ray Players that have this capability.

Hi sherwindu,

I'm sorry. I didn't realize that you were asking for newer models. Yes, several of the 2012 and the soon to come out 2013 Blu-ray models have a web browser in them. For 2012 models, check out the BD-E5900 and BD-E6500.
