Samsung forum: Both HDMI ports dead, Anything I can do? LCD LE40F71b

I ave component input yes, and those seem to work. Sometimes when I start up the tv the letters and stuff might be a bit blurry.
Also I managed to get HDMI signal to it, but its not good. It found this video and it looks like the same problem: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GdGL-1UhWkk

Does anyone know if this is the input card, power card or what I might be able to change?

I can not diagnose over a forum and must only guess. For this one I suspect the board that has the HDMI ports on it and then if that board connects to another board, that board. At most this has meant 2 boards to change.

I see.
I was guessing it was the output board since its only the HDMI that seems dead. All other like component and composite are working.
The other board the main board is offcource connected, but seems strange if that should be bad also?

Also, iv been looking around and found boxes that alter signals from hdmi to component. But they seem to be "expensive" about 50$ which is actualy the same as buying the board(but thats not a sure fix).

They cost about 5$. But I was wondering wil these cables work, because Im not that into the digital/analog signal and how the end result might be.

The reason that cable is made is because folk want it (for a few dollars.) In the USA a working HDMI to component may be illegal (I will not enter into a discussion why.) I can discuss why a cable alone is not supposed to work.

yea iv understood the cable alone wil not work.
Ao my options is either getting a full converter(dont line in the us) or fix the tv.
I realy just wish I knew what card is broken.
Te TV have 3 main card:
Power card
A/V card
LCD controller card.

So when I set in the HDMI it seems like its trying to get the picture right, but as the video shows it shuts of an on. Mutch like when you power a new HDMI device normaly.
Iv been using the component a few hours to test it, but just as I write this it seems to fail aswel. It starts shutting of and on and show blurry vertial green and purlpe lines... Worked great so far, but not now...

So any guess what card should be the problem? I have understood that the A/V video(input)card seems to have had problems on this model.

I start with the board with the HDMI ports. In old designs this was just an I/O board with ESD protection and we changed that for many reasons (not listing them here.) If that didn't cure it, we moved to the next board downstream.

This is often repeated in the service manuals. As a TV Repair Tech you should be seeing that manual and the usual flow charts that cover this.

Thats my take aswel, its just no fun if I use 80$ on the wrong card...

is there any program I can use to test the tv on the service port to identify the problem?

I see the usual HDMI decoder chips there so if it's the usual ESD or other HDMI damage then this is the most likely board.

I just find that strange because yes it would explain the visual issues, but not that the tv shuts of and on like the hdmi is been plugged. That should be the output cards job to send to the power card I would asume.

Il try to find this BN41-00762B somewhere online. I see most stores have it sold out, but Il look and hope.

That board looks to have it all. Sorry but here is where you let a shop fix it. They'll assume all the risk of getting the wrong board.
