Help fix Flickering LE37A559 left margin?

Hi all,

Our TV has started flickering in the left hand margin on our LCD TV. I've switched HDMI cables but even when not plugged in the fault is seen on the black screen, so I'm guessing its the TV itself. The fault sometimes clears itself, which I think is quite weird as I would have thought that if something had blown it would be permanent.
It appears every day, regardless of HD, channel, DTV, Satellite, Console.
Any ideas?

Given your description and those pictures, I'd suggest a repair. From what I can tell, this model is for Austria. (Correct me if I'm wrong.) Hi it's actually a UK TV. Any idea what actually causes the fault?

Hi Inverted81,

Any idea? I have a couple ideas based upon my knowledge of US models of what I'd check first. But I try not to guess on which parts for a repair even on US models because there's always that one time I guess something to be cheaper part, and it winds up being like the screen or main board. happy So yeah, I never guess about this kind of stuff without hands-on since I'm an official voice.

Remember that these are only guessed. In all your electronic's gear you have a few types of parts. Some parts are connectors, boards, chips and cables. That failure can be a connection so I always give the connections the old unplug and plug it back in as metals do tend to corrode over time since heat, humidity and more are present. After that we look at the service manual diagnostic flow chart and if we feel we have no other better guess replace what it tells us to.

I can't guess if you are asking that big question "Why do things fail?" but things do and have for years. I don't see any change coming to stop that.
