When to buy an LED?

Hi all,

I'm new to the TV buying cycle and I'm looking a 7 series LED. I missed the holiday sales when they were about 1200, and now they are back up to 1500. The D7100 is great, but I would "settle" for the D7000 (2011 model). However those are around 1,350, which doesn't seem like a steep enough drop for a TV that's almost 2 years old.

With 2013 TVs hitting the market (my prelim research shows) in March or April, will I do best to wait until then and get a significant discount on a new 2011 model? Or will the price drops not be significant enough to justify the wait.

(and yes, I know any answer will probably be conjecture. That's fine).

But if you remember your history, new models don't usually mean the old ones are that discounted as the supply and outlet chains are better controlled than ever.

The one thing I advise is to ditch the smart tv features as they depend on services that may not work or be around in a few years. And the glitches on that are legendary (sorry to our hosts here but it's true.)

By looking for a great display or picture quality and asking for a better than 1 year warranty you may get what you really wanted.
