I looked up 5.1 sound and it sure looks like that is what my TV would use. So does this mean that my Samsung TV will not work with my Samsung Crystal Surround Air Track? There must be a work around.

That you look around the menus for a setting to send out PCM or stereo. You bring up a good point. Should each product include tutorials on all things audio and more?

This is exactly what I did, My model has two audio out jacks. One uses a standard audio jack and the other is the "Digital Audio Out (Optical) which requires the Optical Adapter (BN39-01154M) and this is what I used..
