Hi
We love the picture on our Samsung TV, and the Home Theater/TV combo is great.
We have enjoyed streaming Netflix as well. The Netflix app on the HT is better than the app on the TV, and so we use that.
BUT, it really does appear that the Internet@TV platform is completely unsupported and that we have no options going forward.
We want to try Amazon Instant Video. No app for the HT at all, ONLY through Smart Hub. The Yahoo Widget is clunky on the TV, and doesn't support all the features of the Smart Hub app. Amazon says "update to Smart Hub on the TV or the HT", but as far as I can tell, that is impossible.
Is there any hope for my C-Series equipment?
Is there a way to update either the HT or the TV to Smart Hub?
Is there a way to get some of the functionality?
Is there any hope for Samsung or anyone else to make "internet@tv" versions of "Smart Hub" apps?
I really love the picture quality, but I am disappointed that it sooooo quickly was obsoleted by Samsung.

But as you suspect that was in the early days of where they decided to start down the road to the Smart TV. Those early models had little memory and the decisions were, well I'm speculating here but it happened to us at the office too, limited by our management decisions as well as the market realities along with how many hours it takes to get a product (software and hardware) out the engineering doors.
Your best and cheapest upgrade is some BluRay or tablet to add the new stuff.

I never say that something won't happen, but as the years go on, the probability of added functionality goes down.

I understand that as time goes on, the chances get less and less. But the fundamental question for me is really why Samsung orphaned the "internet@tv" platform so fast. Basically ONE year of that platform, and then the switch to Smart Hub Platform. Two years ago, updating the "internet@tv" to run the smart hub (or at least a subset of the smart hub) might have been possible. But Samsung didn't.
Honestly, it makes me a bit skeptical of buying a new Samsung device ... I afraid that I'm going to get stuck with another orphaned product.
For example, we were in the market for a Tablet this Christmas. Looked at Samsung Notes, and Tabs. Loved some elements of the Tab. But in the end, we went with a different manufacturer, and the fact that they have a good history of updating their products (looking at android update times for example) was a major factor.
I'm glad that Samsung works to bring NEW concepts like Smart Hub to the market, but you could do a better job with update support for older products.
