Samsung HW-E450

Purchased a Samsung HW-E450 Crystal Surround AirTrack as a Christmas gift.

I have connected the unit to the Insignia TV, as this was the connection the salesman at Best Buy told me to do. I have checked all connections to be sure they are correct, however, there is no sound coming from the sound bar.

Should the sound bar be connected to the cable box instead of the TV? I purchased a digital optical cable as was recommended and have it connected to the TV.

Any suggestions on how I can make this work correctly?

Look around on the TV to output STEREO on the optical. Look for PCM too. I find some folk go for 5.1 and it's silent.
