Connecting a Samsung LN 40A530 HD TV to a Samsung HW E350

I am trying to connect a Samsung HW E350 Crystal surround air track speaker system to my Samsung LN 40A350 HD TV.
when connecting this according to the manual,using HDMI cables, I am not getting sound from the TV through the speaker system. I can only get TV sound by connecting with the Red and Yellow audio cables.
I there a better way to connect all of the devices so I am sure to get digital sound from the TV? My TV is connected to a DirecTV receiver.

You try it with AnyNet on and then off. But since most of these are only stereo you shouldn't be able to tell the difference from HDMI to the red and white cables.

Hi Leerc24,

I compared the specifications from your TV to the sound bar. Your TV is old enough that it won't have the necessary technology for Audio Return Channel (ARC) over HDMI. So you'll need to use the RCA cables to connect to get audio from your TV.
