Do all smart TVs have these problems?

Hi, I just signed up to Cnet specifically to ask other Samsung smart tv owners whether my problems are typical. I own a UA40D6400URXXT - it's a 40" series 6 LED purchased in Thailand. I'm happy with it as a TV but regarding the smart hub, is the following typical....
1) when it updates, it deletes all your existing apps?
2) it's really slow to open simple apps like youtube?

It is not an issue with internet connection; my laptop, S3 and ipad run everything fast over the same wi-fi signal - just the TV is super-slow.
Other questions; I know I need to buy a Samung web cam - is there any way round this?
Can I not connect USB keyboard, mice or speakers?

The apps don't all come from the maker so that can confound folk new to this. It's more like your Windows PC in that apps may not come from the tv maker.

The YouTube app is not simple. It's taken years for it to get to this point. And the devices you are comparing to have a primary design goal of running apps and more. The TV started off as a TV and makers shoehorned in apps and then more. To get the same performance as your other devices would be costly as your other devices PLUS a big screen.

Try an USB keyboard and see if that works. If the TV supports USB keyboards, most work.
