Samsung UE46ES6300 Smart TV - Cannot connect to Wireless Rou

Hello Everyone,

I purchased an Samsung UE46ES6300 Smart TV for my Boyfried for Christmas & we are struggling to connect it to our WiFi to use the features. Obviously I went through the procedures - Network settings, found my WiFi, typed in my Network password & unfortunately states: 'Unable to connect to the Wireless Router'. Taking into account my Virgin Media Router is directly next to my TV, I cannot see what the problem is?! The Wireless & Internet is 100% working as we have other devices running of it - I-pad, Laptop, Phones etc!

I have been reading about this issue on the Web & it seems as though its not only me whom has encounterd this problem!

Just a quick thread to seem if anyone can help in solving my problem & can help me in enabling me to connect our new Smart TV to the Internet.

Your help will be much appreciated.

I've put a post in the CNET Networking Forum titled Samsung Owners Start Here to cover some of the more common issues.

What I find most folk have the rough time is when other things work. This can often derail the help process.

But you claim the media router is next to the TV. Why not skip all the WiFi troubles and hook up an Ethernet cable?

That is currently how I have it hooked up! However, I detest against wires and the whole point is to have it connected by WiFi! I understand that I will get a better connection through an Ethernet cable, but would still like to know how to hook it up with WiFi!

I can't guess which of the dozen issues I've encountered it could be. I know it's asking a lot but the more you tell the more I can narrow it down.

Remember that just because it works with other things means only that. Also, if the Ethernet is plugged in during WiFi setup, there is a good reason for it to fail.

The Ethernet cable was not plug in during the set-up....

Do you think a setting on my Router could be preventing it from connecting?

I see another member shared one reason and I have the CNET Networking Forum post for some known things that cause this. But as long as all we have is the clues so far I can't narrow it down.

When I first got the TV I was going to just do wireless since the router was on the other side of the wall, ended up just plugging it in anyway. HOWEVER, I had similar issues with my UN55ES6500 TV when trying to connect to the wireless in my house.

In my case, the SSID of my network name had both upper and lower-case letters. When I modified the router settings to be all lowercase it connected fine to the wireless.

If possible, just even as a test, change your wireless router SSID name to be all lowercase (if not already).

It's weird! My SSID is all in CAPS, will change it all to Lowercase and see what happens - Thanks.

It's crazy... There is no reason why it should not work!! Think it's a problem Samsung need to sort!
