Samsung D5500 and AV Receiver

I have just bought an AV Receiver, so I can now input my Xbox, Apple TV, speakers etc into the AV Receiver then from there to my TV. This works great! The only problem is that when I want better sound using my surround system from my TV the audio won't come out of the TV. I am assuming that I don't have ACR for the HDMI ports? I can control the sound levels using my TV remote just NO sound! Any help or advice would be great! happy

Tv sound or not

I spent hours trying to figure this out. It was very frustrating for the almost English speaking Samsung tech to keep telling me to just change the setting on the tv to internal speaker when that setting was "greyed" out. You would be proud of me. I didn't cuss but I did hang up. I finally discovered that the tv sound settings are only greyed out/disabled when the hdmi cable is plugged in (weird). Unplug hdmi and you will see the tv speaker settings become available. Change to internal speakers, reconnect hdmi = good to go. Now you can use your AV receiver for sound or tv which ever. Turn tv speaker down when using AV amp for sound as there is a slight echo causing delay in sound processing between the two. Enjoy!
