Bluray player update gone bad

I have a model BD-C6500 bluray player and it alerted me about there being a new update (Dec. 17th) to install. So I chose to install it (via network). The update progress got to 100% but then ended up giving an error saying the update was unsuccessful and to try again. After that the unit was locked up and no buttons would do anything. Left it on overnight and nothing had changed so had to unplug it. After plugging back in the unit just says LOAD on the front and never shows anything on the TV. TV says no signal found when the correct source is selected.

Is this unit a brick now or is there a way to reset it?

Got an answer. Seems there is nothing that can be done without sending in for repair. Looks like this player will be thrown in the trash after a little more than a year cause the repair bill won't be worth it. sad Not good considering it was not something I did that damaged it but either the update servers or the player itself.

Ouch. But always try the other update methods.

I can't say it will work but there are some that come back after we try the CD and USB update methods even when it flunked out the network update.
