Samsung Tv not memorizing cable channels

I just purchased a 51" Samsung plasma tv and hooked it up to the cable tv coaxial cable on the back of the tv. When I run the auto program it does not detect any but 2 channels out of 80. However, If I use the remote to put in the cable channel, the channel comes on. Why can't I get the tv to detect/memorize the cable channels?

I know this cable /connection worked as I just removed my old tube tv from it 20 minutes prior to setting up the new Samsung
