bd-c5900 'cannot load disc....'

hi.

had the blueray player for around 2 years, and we use it irregularly. unforunately now, it will not play any bluray, dvd, or cd... we just get the same screen message and it ejects the disc, i plugged in the LAN today and it downloaded and installed latest software, but still not result with issue.
i dont think its a software issue any way, and with a 2 year old around im thinking possible laser damage?

are they worth repairing? or just getting a new one?
