thnx for your answer Bob!Your idea about ethernet cable may help, but if I have to connect my laptop to the TV I can use also the HDMI cable and its not functional for me.My need is to connect to the net without using my laptop.Any other ideas about using the wireless lan adapter that I already have??

What PC do you have that we can adapt this adapter to connect to the TV over ethernet? The adapter is not usable to the TV without something to adapt it to something the TV can use.

I'm taking your question seriously here. You already know or have guessed we can't plug that into the TV USB port so we have to find something to work with that.

I never mentioned HDMI so that is a nice connection for using our laptop on the TV to get the full internet experience, HULU and more. Some folk decide that's what they really wanted.

samsung original adapter Samsung WIS12ABGNX Wi-Fi USB Adapter does not need anything else.
I mean that you only have to plug it to your smart TV and get connected.

So, I thought maybe with the help of a driver or any 3rd party software, we could do the same with any other wifi adapter that is not compatible yet.

My question thus has to do with this. Is there any possibility or not?

The neat part about this one is that I can power it off an USB port on the TV. Use the AC adapter first.

If cost is the issue, this is much less.

Of course you can't install drivers and other such software in the TV.

What I can't understand and need to find out is what is special in the samsung original wifi adapter that gives it the asset just to plug it on the TV and get connected directly.

Obviously, it must be some software installed on that part that gives it combatibility with the TV.
This part is a common wifi adapter with some software in it -- correct me if I am wrong--
So, I was hoping to find this software and install it on my common adapter if possible.

But without going into a course on computers, USB drivers and more, it should be sufficient to say that without drivers for the TV this stick can't be used. There has never been an USB WiFi stick that we can load firmware or drivers into said stick so this would be a new technology and this looks to be an ordinary WiFi stick you would use on a PC.
