Hi,
I have a 2 year old Samsung TV and just bought a Sony S390 blu ray player. When I turn on the Blu ray player, it displays the welcome screen on my TV, then attempts to go to the menu and signal is lost. I hooked it up to my Vizio TV using the same HDMI cable and works fine. I'm not sure if this is an issue with the player or the TV. The player seems to still be on and TV not registering signal.

I have seen this on some 720p HDTVs but the fix is to reset the Sony and then go through the setup. Can upset those that want to move such around the sets but if the Samsung is not 1080p you may have to do this.

Good to read it's 1080p but for those to look into this, the model numbers as well as the firmware version (details) are best.

Time to call Samsung and ask them to tell you how to identify the model number. Such is usually on your manual or such material.

Hi lkaemingk,
With only a general idea it's a Samsung TV, I can suggest this:
Menu > Support > Contact Samsung
There might be a slight variation on the words used here, but you'll get to a screen that way that can tell you the model. It'll be something like UN46ES7000, PN60A600, or similar pattern: two letters, two numbers, one or two letters, three or four numbers, and sometimes trailing letters of one to five.
